    Over the last several decades residents of this dirt road have covered the ditches, some even going to the trouble of putting in culverts as though the ditches were only meant to carry water from one edge of their property to the other. There is no place for water to run off, so the dirt roads are terrible and full of potholes. Each rain storm, even minor ones, causes significant erosion in this dirt road. While this process has happened slowly over the last several decades, there are right now no ditches to retain the water until it percolates.
